The 23-year-old dramatic arts student received special recognition from the university for her academic work and contribution to life at the school. "Art is life!" she declared after receiving her award, which is given to one student who is deemed to embody the spirit of Sir Isaac Brock by inspiring other students.  see  convocation_walker.pdf  for more information.

Adrienne Kennedy

. . . following DART she attended Trinity College Carmarthen (part of the University of Wales): the program is the MBA (Master of Business Administration) specializing in Arts Management - fifteen full time students were chosen and she was one of three international students that were accepted.  When there she had a work placement with the Theatre and Performance department at the university working with developing the internal marketing strategies: she also had an opportunity to get involved with theatre productions and other things happening within the school of Creative Arts.  Following a trip to Paris, Milan and Venice, she was working at the Toronto International Film Festival in Programme Administration.

Karen McMichael (09)

Karen recently wrote from Toronto to say: "I've managed to get myself a really exciting theatre gig here - designing the sets for Ghostlight Projects' two upcoming musical productions:  "Debbie Does Dallas" and "Hedwig and the Angry Inch".    It's a completely new company (so I get the prestige of being a "founding member" if this thing goes big-time).  I'm having lots of fun with it and everything promises to be wonderfully chaotic."

MERDE! Karen.

Cyrus Sadeghian

. . . is in school as well as working. he is studying Television Broadcasting, a course primarily concerned with the technical aspects of the television industry. Last year was his first year and he completed the year very well. He achieved very good marks and won both awards for his year. The awards were the CTV Student Achievement Award, and the Student Leadership Award. He has also just received the Westin academic achievement award. Concerning his work, he is very happy to say that he is working for the last 7 months for the CBC in Toronto. He is a switcher in the coordination studios. He works primarily on live shows or events such as Hockey Night in Canada, NBA basketball games, MLB major league baseball games, and The Beijing Olympics, which in his television career he is most proud of. He has also worked on comedy and reality shows such as Royal Canadian Air Farce and How Do you Solve a Problem like Maria, where Canada was choosing the next Maria von Trap for Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Sound of Music.

Says Cyrus: "I believe that without my practical and theoretical  knowledge and skills gained from Brock University, especially the knowledge I received from studying theatre,  I would not have done as well at my post graduate studies and or would have been able to obtain my job. The hands on aspects of lighting, set design, script writing, acting, and the essential analytical skills that I learned from the Brock Theatre Department can in many cases cross over to television. I hope that this is a profile you are looking for. Thank you so much for this opportunity. "
